CONSERVATION & REFURBISHMENT
DEPOT, LITTLE ABINGTON
Status - Stage 4
The site layout is defined by a number of factors; the existing site constraints; planning policy considerations; and institutional and operational requirements for the uses proposed based on the building size and client brief.
The material palette is chosen to provide a clean, contemporary interpretation of the barn vernacular found in the wider context. The profiled metal cladding has been considered to wrap the building from the roof down over the long ‘side’ elevations adding texture and a vertical rhythm. At the gable ‘ends’ of the building this will be contrasted with change in material to create the sense that these are opening up inviting visitors inside.
